Benefits of Doing a Solo Retreat and be Away from Work for a Few Days
You’re too busy with work and have no time to be alone. You’re confronted by your colleagues all the time. You have to attend meetings, talk to other employees, or do tons of paperwork. When you reach home, you have to be a parent. You also need to keep your house clean. It can be exhausting if it’s your daily setup. Hence, it pays if you have the chance to let go of everything and have a solo retreat for a few days.
You can think of ways to improve
Given how busy you are with life, you have no choice but to keep going. You repeat the things you’re comfortable of. There’s no chance to improve at all. You can’t even think of new ways to do things. You simply repeat what you’re comfortable of doing. During the solo retreat, you have a chance to look for ways to improve how you do things. You can reflect upon your actions and see what you’re doing right or wrong. When you return to work, you can apply what you’ve thought about.
You can unplug
During the retreat, you don’t have to accomplish anything. You might be a goal-oriented person, but this is an opportunity to not even set a goal. You just have to show up and forget about the challenges of life. Let go of the deadlines you need to finish or family dramas you have to deal with. Sure, it can be worrying at first, but you will get used to it. You will realize that there’s time for everything. At that moment, you just have to unplug, disconnect from the world, and be glad of the chance to relax.
You can evaluate your actions
When faced with a problem and you seem to be on the wrong side, your immediate thought is to find ways to defend yourself. You instantly become defensive without thinking that you might be wrong too. If you’re on the leadership team, you’re too proud to admit that you have done something wrong. During the retreat, you have the opportunity to evaluate your actions. You can remind yourself about what you’ve done wrong and what you need to do to be better. Reflection must be a part of your routine, but you can’t because you’re too busy. You have too many issues to think about and not have the chance to evaluate your actions and choices.
You will return as a better person
Before this retreat, you might think you’re already at the edge of your rope. You’re about to give up and you don’t know what to do next. When the retreat is over, you will feel renewed. You will realize that all you need is a chance to think about life and find ways to improve yourself.
Hopefully, you will give it a shot. It might be hard to insert it in your busy schedule, but you can do it- you have to.
