To Travel or to Save- What Should You Choose?
There are times when you feel like you want to travel, but you are also guilty of not saving the money for the rainy days. You won’t ever know what would happen in the future. Therefore, having enough money for savings would be great. On the other hand, you also don’t want to waste the opportunity to travel when you have enough money to do so. In between these options, which one should you choose?
Where are you in your life?
To answer these questions, you have to ask first where you are in your life right now. If you are single and you don’t have other responsibilities, then you must go ahead and travel. You might not have the same free time again in the future. Besides, you are at a point in your life where you have the freedom to do whatever you want. You also don’t have that much pressure on your career, so you have enough time to travel. You are also healthy and capable. Things will never be the same in the future. Therefore, you must not let go of this opportunity.
On the other hand, if you are older and you have lots of responsibilities at home, then you must prioritize savings. You already have a family to think of. You might also live within your means. If you have savings now, then you definitely have to keep it just in case you will need it for medical emergencies or other problems in the future. At this point in your life, you already have other priorities and this must be taken into consideration. However, you also have to understand that you need a break every now and then. Once you have already budgeted your money for the month and you still have enough to give away, then use it for traveling. After all, you don’t want to be burnt out as it could affect all other aspects in your life.
Plan your trip well
In order to avoid feeling guilty, you need to find a way that you can travel without using a lot of money. There are ways for you to get airline tickets at a much lower price. You may also book in advance so that you can get a lower rate. Just make sure that you can rebook your reservations just in case you decide to change the dates later on. You may also set your trip during an off season. You just need to ask for permission in advance. In doing so, it would be easier for you to get everything at a much lower price.
In short, you can travel and still save money. You don’t want to just keep saving for the future without enjoying the opportunities that are present today. These opportunities might not come again in the future. The world out there is so big and you want to explore it. With the right budgeting, everything is possible.
