Stay at home moms typically take care of the kids and the household chores. These are not the only things that they do as the list goes on and on. There are several misconceptions that other people have on them in various areas including money. Some think that they don’t have enough money of their own, others believe that they have everything. These are just some of the common money misconceptions on stay at home moms. We’ll be covering them here and more.
Stay at Home Moms Don’t Make Money
Stay at home moms typically have a long list of things to do like prepare the kids’ lunch and snacks, bring them to school, clean the house and the dishes, wash the clothes, fold them once dry, pick the kids from school, prepare the dinner, do the grocery and more. Although they have lots of things to do, many stay at home moms also find time to squeeze a freelance job that they could do at home like transcription, data entry, research and writing. This means that there are several moms who could still make money without going to the regular office setting or 9 to 5 job.
They Have Everything They Need
Another common misconception is that they have everything they need as their spouse provide for them and that they don’t have to work for whatever they want. This is not always the case because most often than not, these moms would focus on the family’s needs first and would put themselves last on the priority list. What they need or want would usually be covered once all of the kids’ and spouse’s needs and even wants were bought.
Stay at Home Moms are Cheapskates
There are people who are cheapskates and they are not just stay at home moms. Although there are some who are cheapskates, this doesn’t mean that all of them are. Most of them are used to preparing a budget and sticking to it so that they could buy what they need, pay the bills, stash some for the savings, as well as indulge on their wants every now and then.
They Spend a Lot of Money
Other people think that since they are not the ones who are working for the money, all they know is to spend them. This is not usually the case because as mentioned, many stay at home moms work on a budget. So when they buy something, it’s usually within the budget.
Stay at Home Moms Wish They Were Earning Like Their Spouses
While it’s ideal for both the husband and wife to earn, there are times that they must make an important decision together, like let the wife stop from working her regular job and stay at home. This means that whatever the husband takes home wouldn’t just be his, but theirs. Plus, as previously stated, there are several work at home opportunities that they could get in case they wish or need to earn extra.
